Ford Fusion Named Best Family Sedan

2017 Ford Fusion

There’s a reason why people keep going back to Ford. It’s because of amazing cars like the Ford Fusion, which was recently named Best Family Sedan by 2017 MotorWeek Drivers’ Choice awards!

Sometimes, minivans or SUVs aren’t always the right fit for families. That’s why there still needs to be reliable family sedans. Fortunately, the Ford Fusion has everything a family could want. The MotorWeek Drivers’ Choice Awards honor the best cars, trucks, and SUVs of the year. The awards are distributed based on each vehicle from the driver’s point of view, and that’s a very important point of view to have!

The awards take into consideration innovation, value, reliability, and safety. The Fusion easily took home the award for Best Family Sedan, checking off all of these boxes. It goes above and beyond other sedans with extensive technology features. Where there is technology, there’s often safety, too. The Fusion will keep the whole family safe, thanks to over 20 driver-assistive technologies.

Another thing to love about the Fusion, and another reason why it took home this award, is its versatility. Whether you prioritize power or efficiency, you can get it all with the Fusion, which is made up of options like the Fusion Hybrid, Fusion Sport, and Fusion Energi.

So what are you waiting for? Take the “Best Family Sedan” for a test drive today at Shults Ford in Wexford, PA!

Ford is the Top Inventor in the Industry in 2016

Ford is the top inventor of 2016

Ford does not take innovation lightly. The current automotive industry seeks to equip its vehicles with the latest and greatest technology and safety features. Designers are always seeking new ways to meet the driver’s needs. Ford has done well with this, offering new and modern designs like the 2017 Ford Fusion’s rotary gear shift with the Return to Park feature and other autonomous safety features. In fact, Ford is doing so well at innovation that Ford is the top inventor based on patents and employee submissions for the year of 2016.

The proof is in the numbers. Last year, Ford received approximately 1,500 patents for its employees from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. That was more than any other automaker in 2016. Globally, Ford employees received roughly 3,200 patents. This year was a 25% increase since 2015, and the most patents per year in the 113-year history of the company.

On top of that, there over 8,000 new inventions submitted by Ford employees, a 40% increase from 2015 and a 90% increase from 2014. The record shows that Ford is ahead of the innovation game in relation to its competitors. But the numbers also proves that Ford and its employees are more enthusiastic than ever about finding the automotive innovations that will take driving to the next level.

The Innovative Ford Fusion Design Boosts Recent Sales

Ford Fusion Design

Recently, Ford and Lincoln announced that they had posted record sales for several different models, proving the brand has become more popular than ever. Here at Shults Ford Lincoln of Wexford we couldn’t be happier to see even more Ford and Lincoln vehicles on the road.

So who cares about sales, right? Well, normally sales don’t say too much about the market, but these recent numbers are proving more and more that Ford and Lincoln are the go-to choice for drivers. In particular, the Ford Fusion is quickly becoming a classic.

“Fusion is an outstanding success story with October marking six straight months of record sales,” said John Felice, Ford vice president, U.S. Marketing, Sales and Service. “Fusion is on pace to break the 300,000-vehicle mark this year for the first time ever. Plus, based on the strong sales of the all-new MKC, Lincoln produced its best sales results in October since 2007.”

The Ford Fusion design offers drivers a stylish ride which is both fast and fuel-efficient. With optional EcoBoost and Duratec engines, a sleek exterior (with a gorgeous front grille), and next-generation SmartGuage with EcoGuide, the Fusion is a no-brainer for most drivers.

2015 Ford Fusion Pricing Announced

2015 Ford Fusion pricingJust two years ago, for the 2013 model year, Ford dynamically redesigned the Fusion, and it was met with roaring praise. Now, Ford has released the 2015 Ford Fusion pricing, starting at $23,225, including $825 in destination charges.

Changes for the 2015 model year are minimal and include the loss of a manual transmission, four new exterior colors (Bronze Fire Tinted Clearcoat Metallic, Guard, Tectonic, and Magnetic), and a new standard rearview camera for all models.

For the SE and Titanium trims, a new Terracotta package adds Terracotta leather-trimmed seats, door inserts, and 18-inch painted and machined alloy wheels. The SE also gains a standard six-way power adjustable passenger seat.

Even the base S model gets an upgrade with new 16-inch 10-spoke alloy wheels as standard.

Engine choices remain the same, including the base 2.5-liter four-cylinder, a 1.5-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder, and a 2.0-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder. All engines will be paired to a six-speed automatic transmission.

The 2015 Ford Fusion will be coming to Shults Ford Lincoln of Wexford within the coming months.

Ford Fusion Drops Over 700 Pounds for “Lightweight Concept” Experiment

Even though it’s yet to hit dealerships, Ford’s upcoming lightweighted 2015 F-150 is, by all expert accounts and reviews, poised to be Ford’s best and most popular F-150 ever. That’s saying something, since the F-150 has been part of America’s best-selling truck series for the last 37 years. But when you realize that, thanks largely to an aluminum frame, this new truck is stronger, lighter, and more efficient than previous models, it starts to make sense.

It also makes sense for Ford to ride this success and try to employ lightweighting strategies and technology in other ways as well. That’s just what they’ve done with the Lightweight Concept, which is basically a Ford Fusion that’s undergone a makeover to lose 700 pounds. For the Lightweight Concept, Ford replaced basically every part of the Fusion with a lighter alternative, gleefully experimenting to see just how light and efficient they could make the sedan.

The result is a car full of aluminum, carbon fiber, and even something called Gorilla Glass, all of which adds up to a car that looks like a Fusion but weighs like a Fiesta—and gets the Fiesta’s fuel economy numbers as well. We’ll probably have to wait a while to see a production version of the Lightweight Concept—there’s no current plans for one and all that carbon fiber is expensive—but here at Shults Ford Lincoln of Wexford we’re excited to be part of a company with such an innovative spirit and bright future.

Ford and Coca-Cola Team for PlantBottle Tech Fusion Energi

Ford and Coca-Cola Team for PlantBottle Tech Fusion EnergiThere can be little doubt that two of the most iconic American brands are the Ford Motor Company and Coca-Cola.  The powerhouse companies have joined forces in the name of creating exciting new products derived from renewable materials to unveil a sharp-looking Ford Fusion Energi manufactured using Coca-Cola’s PlantBottle Technology.

From the outside, this Fusion Energi plug-in hybrid is striking in a green and silver-accented paint scheme that evokes the PlantBottle logo’s color scheme.  However, it’s the inside that really shines: lime green-trimmed cloth seats give the PlantBottle Fusion Energi a distinctly sporty look that makes it hard to ignore.

Particularly hard to ignore: the fact that the material used to make these seats comes from the same plastic (polyethylene terephthalate, or PET) Coca-Cola uses to make its plastic bottles.  Using PlantBottle technology, engineers at Ford turned the PET into a durable, automotive-grade fiber that was woven into a fabric that is both more environmentally friendly and more durable.

“By using PlantBottle Technology in a plug-in hybrid, Ford and Coca-Cola are showing the broad potential to leverage renewable materials that help replace petroleum and other fossil fuels, reducing the overall environmental impact of future vehicles,” said John Viera, global director of sustainability and vehicle environmental matters at Ford, in the automaker’s official press release.

The 2014 Ford Fusion and Fusion Energi already incorporate a number of sustainable material innovations, including sound-absorbing denim material in the carpet liner, material equivalent to 38.9 recycled clear-plastic bottles (16 oz) in certain cloth-seat models, and 31,250 soybeans for foam used in seat cushions.  Ford’s ingenuity has already led to a considerably-reduced carbon footprint while delivering the kind of requisite comfort that drivers expect from their vehicles.
