2022 Ford Maverick Named Cars.com Best of the Year

2022 Ford Maverick Wexford, PA

There’s arguably no new vehicle today that’s hotter than the 2022 Ford Maverick. The Maverick is winning over truck lovers (as well as drivers who never knew they wanted a truck), and it’s also scoring huge wins with critics and experts. Recently, Cars.com named the all-new Ford Maverick its choice for Best of the Year 2022.

“Not merely an affordable truck option, the Maverick is an exceptionally thoughtful, broadly appealing model that is significant enough among 2022’s new models that — for the second year in a row — we’ve named a pickup truck Cars.com’s Best of the Year,” wrote Cars.com’s editors.

There’s no shortage of points of praise for the 2022 Ford Maverick. Its low price and standard hybrid engine with incredible city fuel economy are certainly among those points, but there’s not enough that can be said about handy features like its DIY-friendly FLEXBED™, standard under-seat storage bins, and the Ford Integrated Tether System.

Ford has quite a hit on its hands with the Maverick thanks to all this, its city-friendly compact size, and a winning style that’s hard to ignore. This combination isn’t just racking up awards — it’s scored so well with drivers that it’s all sold out for 2022.

Fortunately, we have a limited supply of Maverick trucks in stock at Shults Ford Wexford in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. If you want to see what makes the all-new Ford Maverick the Cars.com Best of the Year for 2022, contact us to set up your test drive.

2022 Ford Maverick Hybrid Fuel Economy Revealed

Ford Maverick | Pittsburgh, PA

The 2022 Ford Maverick is the first standard hybrid pickup truck in America, and it delivers incredible fuel economy. Final EPA ratings have been revealed, and it puts the Maverick in a class all its own with an amazing 42 mpg in the city.[1]

Ford offers the all-new Maverick with a standard 2.5-liter Atkinson-cycle full hybrid engine. Returning 42 mpg in the city as well as 33 mpg on the highway and 37 mpg combined, the Maverick hybrid offers comparable efficiency to sedans that do far less than a Ford truck.

“Our team set out to redefine what a truck could be with Maverick, and we’ve done that with an EPA-estimated 42 mpg city that beats the 2022 Honda Civic 1.5-liter four-cylinder automatic (variable gear ratio) gasoline engine,” said Ford Maverick Chief Engineer Chris Mazur. “At the same time, Maverick offers room for five and plenty of towing and hauling for weekend trips or do-it-yourself projects.”

When equipped with the standard hybrid, the 2022 Ford Maverick offers towing up to 2,000 pounds and 1,500 pounds of maximum payload. You’ll also get the convenience of FLEXBED™, an innovative 4.5-foot bed that’s easily customizable.
