Ford Named One of America’s Most JUST Companies | Wexford, PA

2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E | Wexford, PA

Ford was the No. 1 overall brand in the automobiles and parts industry in the 2022 Rankings of America’s Most JUST Companies. This accolade reaffirms the Blue Oval’s leadership in environmental causes both in the automotive world and beyond it.

Not only was Ford No. 1 in automotive and 20th overall, but it ranked a full 10 spots ahead of the next automaker on the 2022 Most JUST Companies list. Just Capital, which compiles the list, ranks Ford No. 1 among automakers for climate change initiatives and No. 2 overall for pollution reduction and resource efficiency.

Just Capital notes that Ford uses the highest percentage of renewable energy of any automaker at 10% and also recycles 90% of the waste it generates. By 2050, Ford plans to be entirely carbon-neutral.

To get there, Ford is investing more than $50 billion in electric vehicles by 2026. That includes ramping up production of the mega-popular F-150 Lightning and Mustang Mach-E as well as delivering innovative new EVs yet to come.

“At Ford, our goal is to create a positive impact on people and the planet. Because the future of this company centers on a purpose bigger than building vehicles,” said Mary Wroten, director of global sustainability and ESG at Ford Motor Company.

Ford Continues Water Leadership with Stream Restoration Agreement | Wexford, PA

Ford Restoration | Wexford, PA

Ford is a well-known leader in water conservation, having made the CDP A List for water security multiple times over the past decade. And once again, Ford steps up to help make our planet a better place with a historic new stream mitigation and restoration agreement.

In April, Ford and the University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture signed an agreement to restore stream waters running through Lone Oaks Farm on the latter’s campus. The objective is to convert the 1,200-acre facility into a 4-H and STEM Education Center, helping students learn vital skills that will translate into a better tomorrow.

“Every year, UTIA provides valuable life skills as well as STEM education opportunities to nearly 112,000 students across Tennessee,” said UT President Randy Boyd. “Ford’s investment in Lone Oaks will ensure our 4-H programs will be able to expand STEM education to Tennessee students for years to come.”

Ford continually proves itself to be a leader in the auto industry when it comes to sustainability. Not only does the company plan to be fully carbon-neutral by 2050, but it’s investing in the development and production of world-class electric vehicles like the Mustang Mach-E and F-150 Lightning.

Going green is easier than ever now thanks to Ford. Check out the selection of eco-friendly Ford vehicles available today at Shults Ford Wexford in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and contact our team when you’re ready for a test drive.

New Ford F-150 Lightning Stands Up to Testing in Alaska

2022 F-150 Lightning | Wexford, PA

The 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning has arrived at last, and it’s changing the way folks think about driving. We understand that you may still be on the fence about going electric because you’re not sure how EVs might hold up to Pittsburgh weather. Ford wants to put those fears to rest, and that’s why it put the F-150 Lightning through intense cold-weather testing in Alaska.

Earlier this year, Ford subjected the all-electric F-150 Lightning to low-mu testing in Alaska. This style of test shows how a vehicle holds up on icy, snowy surfaces as bad or worse than what you’ll find in Pennsylvania during the winter.

And thanks to its standard dual-motor 4×4 system, quick torque, and electronic-locking rear differential, the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning aced low-mu testing in Alaska with flying colors. Over different types of ice and snow, the F-150 Lightning proved confident and responsive.

“F-150 Lightning in the snow is a very different ballgame compared to gas vehicles,” said Nick Harris, F-150 Lightning powertrain engineer. “The responses are extremely quick and the dual motors make it as if you have two engines pumping out power in one vehicle. A lot of our work is to coordinate the two motors to work together to best deliver torque to the ground so that customers who drive in the snow and ice ultimately feel very confident.”

Of course, you’re only just scratching the surface of what makes the new F-150 Lightning so amazing. Ford gives you the utmost peace of mind with an EPA-estimated maximum range of up to 320 miles as well as the most power and speed of any F-150 ever made.

Pair all this with impressive towing and payload capabilities, leading-edge techs like BlueCruise and Ford Intelligent Backup Power, and winning style, and the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning is a can’t-miss everywhere from Alaska to Pittsburgh.

Raptor Ford Grill | Shults Ford Wexford

When it rains, it pours when it comes to Ford and Ford Performance. While the excitement surrounding the all-new Ford Bronco is still at a fever pitch, the Blue Oval is making sure that there’s still plenty to look forward to with its Built Wild™ brand. Ford announced that an all-new Bronco Raptor will debut in 2022, kicking things up yet another level.

Ford hasn’t said much about the Bronco Raptor, but based on the name alone, we can intuit a thing or two. Namely, we can expect the Ford Bronco Raptor debuting in 2022 to offer a more powerful engine and even more off-road-ready equipment.

To give you an idea, the new 2021 Ford F-150 Raptor boasts a 450-horsepower twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter EcoBoost® V6 and upgrades like FOX™ Live Valve™ shocks, and a revamped suspension with longer springs. So if you thought the 2021 Ford Bronco was an impressive off-road performer — and it is — just imagine what the Bronco Raptor will do.

One interesting thing to note: In announcing the Bronco Raptor, Ford said that it will be “one of the Bronco special edition vehicles that will be available in 2022.” So it sounds like there’s somehow even more to be excited about when it comes to one of the coolest new vehicles to come around in some time.

Ford Auctions Custom Mustang Mach-E at EAA AirVenture

Ford Mustang Mach-E | Shults Ford Wexford| Pittsburgh, PA

For several years now, Ford has been an integral part of the Experimental Aircraft Association’s annual AirVenture show in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Ford often brings one-of-one vehicles to the show that are auctioned off for programs supporting up-and-coming aviators. And for the 2021 EAA AirVenture, Ford had a doozy in store: a custom Mustang Mach-E inspired by some of the bravest women ever to have wings.

Ford created a one-of-a-kind 2021 Mustang Mach-E customized in tribute to the Women Airforce Service Pilots. These women covered 60 million miles during World War II, transporting aircraft to bases around the globe.

As a tribute to the 38 Women Airforce Service Pilots who died in service to their country, the custom Mustang Mach-E auctioned at the 2021 EAA AirVenture bears the No. 38 on the front fascia, rear bumper, and in the cabin. This unique pony also features U.S. Army Airforce Star decals and a distinctive color scheme.

“It was hard not to get a little teary-eyed as we put the finishing touches on this vehicle,” said Kristen Keenan, a designer who helped create the Mustang Mach-E. “I have never worked on a memorial project before. Commemorating this group of women through the vehicle design was an honor.”

This rare Mustang Mach-E went up for auction at AirVenture’s The Gathering, and all proceeds went to help EAA’s goal of expanding aviation industry access for women and youths from underserved communities. Over the years, Ford has helped EAA raise more than $4 million for the cause.

This one-of-one Mustang Mach-E was sold to a lucky individual at this year’s AirVenture, but you can still fly high in your own performance EV. Contact Shults Ford Wexford in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to learn how you can get your hands on the all-new Mustang Mach-E.

Ford Donates $250K to STEM Education in Detroit

Ford Grill | Shults Ford | Wexford, PA

Ford knows that the future of the auto industry is in the hand of a new generation of up-and-coming talent. That’s why it seeks to empower everyone who has the potential to make change a reality. Ford recently donated $250,000 to the Detroit Area Pre-College Engineering Program, which will bring STEM education to 80 underrepresented students.

Ford and DAPCEP are establishing a new Future Forward program that will aid 11th and 12th grade students from Detroit. Those selected for the program can take part in courses, benefit from Ford mentorship, and can even qualify for internships and a pre-college program.

DAPCEP Executive Director Michelle Reaves said that the goal of the partnership is to provide access to STEM education to students from underserved communities.

“According to recent UCLA research, 22 percent of Black students and 29 percent of Latinx students complete a STEM degree within six years. If the pandemic has taught us anything, it’s that the world will need more scientists, engineers, and researchers who represent and support underrepresented communities,” said Reaves.

Ford is committed to the future, and it shows in how it invests in American students and workers. The result will no doubt be continued innovation for years to come, resulting in more game-changing vehicles like the 2021 Ford F-150 and Mustang Mach-E.
