Is the Ford Mustang Hybrid Getting a V8?

The Ford Mustang is one of the most popular sports cars on the market. As 2020 draws nearer, the Ford Mustang Hybrid will soon make its way to our showroom and countless others across the country. Now, Ford has patented a new system that would fit suspiciously well as the Mustang Hybrid’s new engine.

Ford’s new patent

According to AutoGuide, Ford has patented a new powertrain system. The powertrain is a “twin motor drive system for [a] hybrid vehicle.” In other words, it’s a V8 engine designed to power a hybrid car.

The patent itself doesn’t mention the Ford Mustang Hybrid — or the highly anticipated Ford F-150 Hybrid. However, the timing of this patent fits perfectly with the upcoming release of the Mustang Hybrid, so many are beginning to speculate about any possible connections.

The Mustang Hybrid’s release date

Unfortunately, we don’t have a lot of information about the Mustang Hybrid’s release just yet. Many estimate that the model will make it to the 2020 lineup, which would mean we’re right on the cusp of finding out more information. Until then, Ford has most of the details under wraps.

In the meantime, the 2019 Ford F-150 and 2019 Ford Mustang are available at Shults Ford Lincoln Wexford. Call us today to schedule your test drive.

Winter may bring high heating bills and icy roads, but the season isn’t all bad. Sledding is a favorite winter pastime the whole family can enjoy. So pack a sled or two into your Ford SUV or truck and head out to one of these best places for sledding in Pittsburgh.

Blueberry Hill Park and Knob Hill Park

Let’s start in our own suburb of Wexford, Pennsylvania. Two great spots include Blueberry Hill Park, which is off of I-79 and I-279 North, and Knob Hill Park. Blueberry Hill Park has its own designated sledding area—that’s how great it is.

South Park

Sunny Slopes in Pittsburgh is a perfect spot for sledding, whether cloudy or sunny. The area includes three hills, one of which boasts a 1,000-foot-long slope for optimal sledding speed. Of course, all that fun on the way down means a long trek back up for the next go.

Chapel Hill

Head to Chatham University for a sledding legend: Chapel Hill. The slope starts at the Chatham Memorial Chapel and is not too often frequented, making it a great spot for family fun.

Flagstaff Hill

Flagstaff Hill is among the most popular sledding hills in Pittsburgh. In fact, it’s a great spot for tobogganing, mild snowboarding, and a good old-fashioned snowball fight. The spot is near Phipps Conservatory.

We here at Shults Ford Wexford encourage you and your family to enjoy the winter season and all the snow-based fun it delivers.

New “Built Ford Proud” Campaign

If there’s one thing Ford fans know, it’s that the automaker is famous for being “Ford Tough.” However, Ford has an all-new slogan rolling out with its fresh ad campaign – Ford Proud.

The “Built Ford Proud” ad campaign debuted during the Michigan-Michigan State football game on October 21st. The purpose of the campaign is to focus on a different aspect of Ford – one that many Ford customers may not consider. Shifting from Ford “Tough” to Ford “Proud” focuses on loyalty and family.

Matt Van Dyke, Ford’s director of marketing communications, says the theme is intended to be “one umbrella that brings together” the entire lineup of Ford vehicles, from compact cars to commercial vans. Instead of just focusing on “tough,” which refers to trucks, the word “proud” instead applies to all Ford vehicles.

The ads also highlight one very important aspect of Ford – it’s a family name. Unlike many brands that are the result of mergers, Ford has always been “Ford” since its inception in 1903. One television ad says, “Let the other guys keep dreaming about the future, we’ll be the ones building it” while print ads read, “Born in Detroit. Made in America. Famous Worldwide.”

There’s plenty to be proud of with Ford. Come down to Shults Ford Lincoln Wexford today to explore what Ford Proud can mean to you.

All-New Ford Ranger Radar Makes Towing Simple

When you’re looking for the perfect pickup truck to fit your needs, it’s likely you want one that will make it easy to tow your boat, trailer, or RV. Luckily, that’s where the Ford Ranger comes into the picture. This brand-new addition to the Ford lineup will be going on sale early next year, and it’s set to provide you with some innovative towing technology that’s sure to make life a whole lot easier.

This new Ford Ranger radar technology uses the truck’s class-exclusive Blind Spot Information System to essentially provide you with an extra pair of eyes when you’re behind the wheel. When a trailer is hooked up to your Ford Ranger, cameras near the truck’s taillights help monitor blind spots all the way to the back of the trailer, letting you know when there’s a vehicle in your blind spots.

Furthermore, if you happen to have more than one trailer, the system can save up to three trailer profiles so your truck knows to provide you with warnings whenever another vehicle is driving past you.

When you don’t have a trailer attached to your truck, the Blind Spot Information System will let you know when vehicles are in your blind spots as it normally would. It will also let you know of any obstacles behind you when you’re backing out of a parking spot.

This Ford Ranger radar and Blind Spot Information System come standard on the Ranger XLT and Lariat trim levels. Learn more about the upcoming Ford Ranger and its incredible tech when you speak with our team here at Shults Ford Lincoln Wexford.

Ford Gets Its Best Score Ever in 2018 J.D. Power Initial Quality Study

When you purchase a new vehicle, you want to ensure it is of high quality, which is precisely what the 2018 J.D. Power Initial Quality Study entails. The prestigious study examines hundreds of vehicles for their quality within the first 90 days of ownership, and it recently found that Ford is the second in the industry when it comes to quality.

Ford was able to get its highest quality score ever thanks to a variety of improvements made in advanced audio, connectivity, entertainment, and navigation technology.

“Customers want a vehicle that keeps them connected whether they’re going places or just out enjoying a drive,” said Jim Van Slambrouch, Ford’s Director of Quality for The Americas. “Our improving quality scores show we are delivering smart vehicles for a smart world that are also easy to use.”

Because of the improvements Ford has made, the American automaker had more vehicle segment quality awards than any other brand. Overall, it had nine vehicles recognized in the top three of their respective segments. This included the Expedition, Mustang, F-Series Super Duty, Lincoln Continental, and Lincoln MKC.

Best Road Trip Games for Children

Spending time with family on a road trip is a fantastic bonding experience, but it can sometimes get boring — especially if you have kids in the car. Here are some road trip games for children that are sure to keep passengers of all ages entertained.

I’m Going on a Picnic: Help your kids exercise their brains with this memory game. The first player should begin by stating, “I’m going on a picnic and I’m bringing…” filling in the blank with something that begins with “A”. The next person then must repeat the same phrase with the “A” word and then adding a “B” word after it. Continue this until you get to the end of the alphabet.

The Animal Name Game: Begin this game by naming an animal. The next person then has to name another animal that starts with the last letter of the previous animal named. For example, if someone says “seal” then the next player has to name an animal that begins with “L”. Keep going until everyone’s stumped, and remember — you can’t repeat animals!

21 Questions: This classic game is perfect for long car rides. Begin by having a passenger think of a person, place, or thing. Then, the other passengers must ask questions to try and guess what it is. The biggest challenge, though, is that you can only ask 21 questions total. Whoever gets it right gets to begin the next round, and if the object isn’t correctly guessed, the first passenger gets to choose again.
