Looking for something unique to do this fall to get you and the kids in the Halloween spirit? Consider a trip to Pittsburgh for THE GLOW: A Jack O’Lantern Experience.

THE GLOW: A Jack O’Lantern Experience will open on Thursday, Oct 4, and will run through the remaining weekends of the month. This Halloween-inspired event will be held in Hartwood Acres Park at 200 Hartwood Acres from 5 to 10 p.m.

The family-friendly event takes you and your loved ones on a peaceful stroll through an illuminated trail with more than 5,000 hand-carved jack-o’-lanterns. Some of the most famous jack-o’-lanterns include masterpieces based on the works of Heinz, Mister Rogers, Andy Warhol, and other Pittsburgh staples. Sections of the park feature different themes, including a pirate area with a 30-foot long ship, the Pre-Historic Park with 16-foot tall dinosaurs made of jack-o’-lanterns, and a stretch with pumpkins hanging from the trees above.

Admission ranges from $10.99 to $22.99.

If you need a vehicle to get you to this Halloween-themed experience, be sure to check out our inventory at Shults Ford Wexford.

The History of St. Patrick’s Day

Today, St. Patrick’s Day is a day we celebrate all things Irish. But do you know where this day comes from? We are going to share the history of St. Patrick’s Day with you.

In Ireland, St. Patrick’s Day has been celebrated for over 1,000 years. It celebrates St. Patrick, who worked as a missionary. He incorporated a number of traditional Irish symbols into his teachings. It is believed that St. Patrick died on March 17th, which is why that day is St. Patrick’s Day.

The tradition made its way into the United States, and the very first St. Patrick’s Day parade was held on March 17, 1762 in New York City.

Over the years, the popularity of St. Patrick’s Day continued to grow with more parades being held across the country, including here in Pittsburgh. If you are going to the Pittsburgh St. Patrick’s Day Parade this year, be sure to drive your Ford. With technologies such as back-up cameras, park assist, and blind spot alerts, your Ford will make sure you get there safely and squeeze into the perfect parking spot with ease.

You can even stop by Shults Ford Lincoln of Wexford and pick out a new car in your favorite shade of green!

Pittsburgh Steelers Training Camp Attendees Battle to Be Rostered

Stop in at Shults Ford Wexford any time of day, and we’ll probably be discussing two things: Fords and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Our Black and Gold team’s 2017-2018 season is right around the corner. The end of July marked the start of the Pittsburgh Steelers training camp, a time when players get back into the swing of things. But more importantly, training camps are a time for the 53-man roster to be decided upon for the season.

Of course, the Steelers’ coaches are thinking ahead as much as possible, so many of the roster’s positions are already filled. But there are some Steelers players who coaches might be on the fence about. One such player is wide receiver Cobi Hamilton. Hamilton stepped in at the end of the 2016 season just when the Steelers needed him the most, and performed well catching 17 passes on 28 targets. However, the Steelers already have four wide receivers ready to go, so whether or not Hamilton makes it will depend on how irresistible his performance is at training camp. The same sort of question is up in the air for running back Fitzgerald Toussaint and wide receiver Demarcus Ayers. These are just three of huge pool of talented players that the Steelers have to choose from. Only time and training camp will tell who will make the final cut for the 2017-2018 season.

Just what is the Jam Fest? It’s not actually about “jam”, so don’t come hungry. It’s an event that puts tons of basketball team members together in one place. Every year for the Jam Fest, coaches and players from colleges all over the AAU circuit meet in Pittsburgh to play against each other. Thanks to all of the space available in the David L. Lawrence Convention center, there are over thirty courts at this event.

Last year, more than 400 teams and 225 coaches attended the event. Imagine what it will look like this year! It will be easier than ever for teams to participate in these events, because Jam Fest is now a “Stay & Play” event. The partnership between Hoop Group and several Pittsburgh hotels means that teams will get lower rates and discounts on everything local.

If you’re in attendance, then you won’t be the only one. ESPN, Scout.com, CBS Sports, SLAM Magazine, and more media groups will all be there.

So make your plans now for April 28th– 30th to catch these awesome teams compete.
