Premier of the Lincoln Concept Navigator

We at Shults Ford Lincoln of Wexford know how amazing Lincoln vehicles are, but many people have been waiting for a comeback from the luxury automaker. The wait is over, as Lincoln pulled out all the stops for its next concept vehicle.

The concept for the next Lincoln Navigator premiered at the New York International Auto Show. The debut was just as spectacular as the vehicle, as a band played a jazz version of “All of Me” and Matthew McConaughey came onto the stage.

An overhaul to the Navigator hasn’t happened in a decade, so fans were thrilled to see the new concept. The concept SUV had gullwing doors, three steps that automatically unfold on each side of the vehicle, and even a custom interior storage area that resembles a closet!  The interior is spacious with large seats and intricately designed features such as the shifter being designed to look like piano keys.

Lincoln is calling the Navigator a prime example of “quiet luxury,” perfect for people wanting to buy drivable comfort and luxury.

More than just a pretty vehicle, the concept Navigator boasts a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 engine, which puts out more than 400 horsepower. Lincoln also has stated that there are new technologies to help the Navigator handle and perform in all weather conditions.

Not all the spectacular features will make it into the penciled in 2017 production, but we at Shults Ford Lincoln of Wexford will be waiting to see how this concept Navigator finalizes in production.

Examining Lincoln’s Success in China

Lincoln has always been considered one of the classiest and most stylish luxury automobiles out there, and now the brand’s good-taste and sophistication has spread its influence all the way to China – and boy do they love Lincoln over there!

2015 marked the first full year of sales in China and, by the end of December, Lincoln had sold 11,630 models across the country. Lincoln’s success in China is likely due to both the 33 new Lincoln dealerships opened in the country (eight more than was originally planned) and Lincoln’s solid legacy of ultimate luxury and style. The reliability and personal experience of “The Lincoln Way,” a full-service, full-immersion lifestyle enhanced by the Lincoln brand surely didn’t hurt their sales, either.

Lincoln’s huge success in China will continue to grow as the brand plans to reach 60 dealerships in 50 cities by the end of 2016, plus the reintroduction of the classic full-size luxury sedan, the Lincoln Continental.

New Matthew McConaughey Ads for Lincoln Now Airing

After the enormously successful Lincoln advertisements starring Oscar-winning actor Matthew McConaughey debuted last year, Lincoln is at it again.

New advertisements for the luxurious 2016 Lincoln MKX utilize the actor’s fame and handsome mug once again, this time directed by Oscar-nominated directed Gus Van Sant. You can check out one of the ads here, courtesy of YouTube.

The ads aim to highlight the luxurious, atmospheric feeling provided by the new Lincoln MKX, which, like the ads says, “stays with you.” Whether or not this new line of ads will end up parodied on Saturday Night Live (like the last batch) remains unknown.

Last year’s ads were enormously successful, with various parodies and jokes that followed only increasing the sales for the Lincoln MKC by about 25 percent. These new Matthew McConaughey ads certainly can’t hurt.

If you’d like to check out the 2016 Lincoln MKX or are interested in any other Lincoln models, feel free to contact us or visit us here at Shults Ford Lincoln of Wexford.

Lincoln Continental Concept’s 30-Way Seats Show Future of Luxury

Whether you are driving your daily commute or heading off on a road trip, it’s likely that you want your car to have seats that offer superior comfort. Now, Lincoln is taking seat comfort to an entirely new level. The American car maker recently offered an innovative take on the modern car seat. With the ability to move in 30 different ways, massage features, and improved body support, the seats available in the Lincoln Continental concept are the next step in luxury.

“The next frontier to serve the luxury automotive client is a seat that conforms to and supports the body—a seat that feels as if it were personally tailored for you each time,” said Johnathan Line, advanced seat innovation supervisor and technical export.

The Lincoln Continental concept’s 30-way seats use a patented flexible comfort carrier to provide superior comfort. A system combines plastic and a thin layer of foam to flex around the body, taking stress off the shoulders and neck. This seating concept was created after the seat engineers studied the seats in first-class and private airplanes.

To truly see Lincoln luxury, make sure you stop in to Shults Ford Lincoln of Wexford.

Lincoln is Driven to Give to AJLI and the just keep living Foundation

The Lincoln Motor Company is expanding its Driven to Give program to include The Association of Junior Leagues International (AJLI) and Matthew McConaughey’s just keep living Foundation.

The automaker will donate $25 for each test drive conducted at two of AJLI’s conferences this year, split between the association itself and the local Junior League. The first conference has already occurred at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza in LA during April 16-18. The second will take place Sept. 17-19 in New Orleans during a fall leadership conference.

In addition, Lincoln will donate $20 to Matthew McConaughey’s just keep living Foundation for every test drive taken in the new 2016 MKX crossover at dealerships nationwide, including Shults Ford Lincoln of Wexford. If the test-driver so chooses, of course.

Since 2011, Lincoln has donated more than $4 million to schools and charities through its Driven to Give program. We’re proud to be a part of it!

Lincoln Returning Presidential Vehicle to Lineup

It used to serve presidents, until the name fell out of favor as European luxury cars pushed their way into the American market. Now, it’s back. Lincoln is resurrecting the former presidential vehicle. The Lincoln Continental will go on sale in 2016.

Since it last rolled off the lines in 2002, the Continental has been storied. While Lincoln tried to compete with foreign automakers, the American aspect vanished from the car. Now, CEO Mark Fields is leading the revival.

“When we get a chance to work on an iconic nameplate like that, it’s a mixture of pride and a mixture of fear, because when you put that name out there, it’s got to deliver,” Fields told The Associated Press.

Henry Ford’s son, Edsel, who added it to the lineup in 1938, first inspired the Lincoln Continental. Sales gradually rose until 1990, where they peaked at 62,732 units. After that, sales slipped and Lincoln fell out of the luxury market. Now, with Fields behind the wheel, Lincoln is pushing its way back up from premium to luxury. Hopes are set high in China, where full-size sedans are growing in popularity.

It’s not just a mobile hotel room, though—it’s got quite a powertrain under the hood as well. Lincoln Navigator Is a Best Bet

Together, The Center for Auto Safety and The Car Book have said that the Lincoln Navigator is a Best Bet. The award is only given to vehicles with superior crash test ratings, and the Navigator is the only large premium utility vehicle to earn this recognition.

The award is based on nine vehicle categories, including, crash tests, safety features, rollover, preventative maintenance, repair costs, warranty, fuel economy, complaints, and insurance.

The 2015 Lincoln Navigator earned a five-star Overall Vehicle Score from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration earlier this year.

In addition to its excellent safety standards, the Navigator offers an interior with premium features including better second-row head room and leg room than the Cadillac Escalade. Also, when properly equipped, it has a best-in-class towing capability of 9,000 pounds.

The 2015 Navigator is also the most powerful and most efficient Navigator ever. The 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine delivers 380 horsepower along with best-in-class fuel economy of 16 mpg city, 22 mpg highway, and 18 mpg combined.

If you’re looking for a luxurious large SUV that will give you the best in safety and features, come check out the 2015 Lincoln Navigator available now at Shults Ford Lincoln of Wexford.

Lincoln Eliminates its New Car Smell from China-bound Cars

Is there anything better than that new car smell? Well, according to Chinese consumers, there is – no smell at all. In an effort to appease its Chinese car customers, Lincoln eliminates its new car smell from vehicles bound for China.

According to representatives from Lincoln Motor Company, research indicates Chinese patrons are less than enthusiastic about the scent caused by new plastics, glue, and leather that most Americans find so appealing in new cars. “They don’t like it,” says Kumar Galhotra, Lincoln’s president. “We’ve gone through a very thorough process of understanding the materials that contribute to that smell.”

In an effective effort to remove the new car smell, some automakers are employing nose teams to inspect cars for odor and develop methods for its removal. Fortunately for the Chinese market, Lincoln workers simply put a container of carbon absorbent sheets into the Lincoln cabins before the vehicle is shipped to China – much like eliminating bad odors from the fridge with baking soda – and upon arrival, the smell has dissipated.

Come check out Shults Ford Lincoln of Wexford, where we promise you can enjoy that new car smell!
