2020 Ford Explorer Hybrid Range Is Over 500 Miles

No matter where you’re going, we can all agree that any road trip is better with fewer stops at gas stations. That’s why the 2020 Ford Explorer Hybrid is one of the best vehicles to have on any road trip, as it was just announced as having an EPA-estimated range of over 500 miles for rear-wheel drive models and of over 450 miles for all-wheel drive models.*

This incredible 2020 Ford Explorer Hybrid range is made possible by the combination of an 18-gallon fuel tank and an EPA-estimated fuel economy of 27 mpg in the city, 29 mpg on the highway, and 28 mpg combined.*

“Explorer is the ultimate family adventure vehicle — and fewer pit stops is one of the latest reasons why,” said Bill Gubing, Explorer chief engineer. “Explorer provides space for the whole family and their gear, it’s got great towing capability, and now it has range like no Explorer before.”

To achieve such strong fuel economy numbers, the 2020 Ford Explorer Hybrid pairs an efficient 3.6-liter V6 engine with a 35-kilowatt electric-motor system incorporating an all-new, advanced 10-speed modular hybrid transmission.

As a result, the Ford Explorer Hybrid is not only extremely economical but also surprisingly potent: It puts out 318 horsepower and 322 lb-ft of torque, delivering enough might to tow up to 5,000 pounds — just as much as the previous-generation Explorer with the highly-rated, turbocharged 3.5-liter EcoBoost® engine.

Impressed by the Ford Explorer Hybrid range? So are we! Get a taste of what the new SUV is capable of at Shults Ford Wexford.

*Actual mileage and range will vary. RWD version has EPA-estimated ratings of 27 mpg city /29 mpg highway/28 mpg combined; 4WD version has EPA-estimated ratings of 23 mpg city /26 mpg highway/25 mpg combined.

Tips for Tailgating in Pittsburgh

It’s almost football season, which means it’s time to start planning for tailgating. If this is your first time tailgating in Pittsburgh, check out these tips:

  1. Know where to go: Generally, before games downtown, people tailgate at surface lots, in parking garages, and in water shuttles. If you aren’t sure where to go, look for groups on social media who may be happy to have you for your first game.
  2. Pack the Cooler Well: Start with pre-chilling anything/everything. When it comes back to pack the cooler, put any beverages at the bottom, and then add a layer of ice and give it a good shake to get the ice to fall between any crevices. Put food, ideally in water-tight containers, on top and pack it full. A full cooler means no warm air sneaks in.
  3. Bring games to play: Tailgating is about eating good food, but it’s always fun to play cornhole or pass the football around.
  4. Dress for the weather: It gets cold in Pittsburgh in the fall and winter, especially in the morning. Bring layers that you can take off as the day warms up.
  5. Bring trash bags: Sure, water, drinks, food, plates, etc. are all important, but if you want to be a good fan, you should always pick up your trash. Bring extra trash bags to pass out to people you see littering. They’ll take the hint.

If you need a tailgate-ready ride, look no further than our great selection of Ford F-150, Ford Explorer, Ford Escape, and Ford EcoSport. They’re all ready to rock and roll right here at Shults Ford Wexford.

2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 Gets 760 Horsepower

Imagine being at the top of your game for 55 years and continuing to pull new tricks out of your bag after five decades. Ford has done it again with its iconic pony car, revealing that the new 2020 Mustang Shelby GT500 gets 760 horsepower. Yes, you read that right: 760 horses.

The new Shelby GT500 will deliver 760 horsepower and 625 lb-ft of torque, making it the most powerful street-legal Ford vehicle ever put to the road. It also means that the supercharged 5.2-liter aluminum alloy V8 is the world’s most power-dense supercharged V8 engine currently in production.

Also offered with the 2020 Mustang Shelby GT500 is a segment-exclusive Tremec® TR-9070 DCT dual-clutch transmission, which offers superior control and quick shifting in all driving scenarios.

“In many ways, this is like having two transmissions in one,” said Pat Morgan, Ford Performance powertrain manager. “On one hand, it enables performance at the outer reaches of straight-line quickness with minimal torque interruption yet provides an incredible amount of finesse and control in track environments for maximum stability and predictability at the limits of lateral acceleration.”

Ford promises that the Shelby GT500 will offer a mid-three-second 0-60 mph time and will be able to go from 0-100-0 in just 10.6 seconds. To achieve this, Ford has equipped the new Shelby GT500 with performance-enhancing equipment such as 16.5-inch two-piece Brembo® rotors and larger Brembo® six-piston calipers, next-gen MagneRide™ suspension, and Ford Performance-spec Michelin® Pilot® Sport 4S tires.

Ford also offers two packages for the Shelby GT500: the Handling Package and the Carbon Fiber Track Package. The former adds a Gurney flap spoiler and strut top mounts. The latter adds Michelin® Pilot® Sport Cup 2 tires, 20-inch carbon fiber wheels, adjustable exposed carbon fiber GT4 track wing, and splitter wickers with integrated dive plane.

If you have a need for speed that you want to satisfy, look no further than the 2020 Mustang Shelby GT500, which should be arriving at Shults Ford Lincoln Wexford later this year.

Check Out the New 2020 Ford Escape SUV

Earlier this year, Ford pulled back the covers on the next iteration of its popular Escape SUV, including hybrid and plug-in options. In total, you can choose from four powertrains for the 2020 Ford Escape.

If you want to go the hybrid route, the 2020 Escape can be ordered up with a 2.5-liter Atkinson cycle hybrid engine that creates 198 horsepower and boasts a range of more than 550 miles. Or if you are ready to step into the plug-in hybrid arena, you can go with the Escape’s new propulsion system that achieves a best-in-class EPA-estimated all-electric range of 30 miles or more.

Traditional gas models for the 2020 Escape are also appealing. You can choose the new 1.5-liter EcoBoost® engine, which serves up 180 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque and achieves a max tow rating of 2,000 pounds. But for pure power, go with the new 2.0-liter EcoBoost® engine that cranks out 250 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque and enables towing up to 3,500 pounds.

Check Out the Greater Pittsburgh Soapbox Derby in June

Looking for a new kind of summer fun for the kids now that school’s out? Try out the Greater Pittsburgh Soapbox Derby, a free event that will take place on Eden Park Blvd in McKeesport. That’s a 40-minute drive southeast out of downtown Pittsburgh and about an hour away from our dealership here in Wexford.

The Greater Pittsburgh Soapbox Derby will be held on June 16 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., meaning there is plenty of time for your family to stop by and check out the high-speed action.

The Soap Box Derby has long been a youth program beloved across America, getting its start in our neighbor to the west, Ohio. The first All-American Soap Box Derby race was held in Dayton back in 1934, and since then the sport has grown in popularity. The sport is great for young kids who learn the value of hard work in readying their competing cars and then get the fun pay off of actually competing in a race that values sportsmanship above all else.

Want to learn more about this year’s race event? Contact the race director, Bryan Brain. You can find contact info for Brian here. We hope to see you at the derby! Pittsburgh Fringe Festival Brings Drama to the City

Every year, Pittsburgh turns into a haven for those that love the performing arts. Across the East End, you can catch a play, laugh with a comedian, or enjoy some family-friendly entertainment — all thanks to the Pittsburgh Fringe Festival.

From April 4-7, Pittsburgh will be transformed for this festival with venues popping up around the area, from Bloomfield and Friendship to Garfield and East Liberty. Based on the world-renowned Edinburgh Fringe Festival — which takes place each year in Edinburgh, Scotland — the Pittsburgh Fringe Festival will showcase a range of performing arts, including comedy, theater, puppetry, music, dance, opera, poetry, and literature.

For 2019, there have been some changes made to the festival. Not only is there a new Fringe location, which you can find here, but the festival is also changing the way it works. It will truly take after the Edinburgh Fringe by allowing the venues to run themselves, opening up more opportunities for performers to host their shows in unique locations.

More information regarding the Pittsburgh Fringe Festival will be available in the future, so make sure you check out its website soon. You can even apply to be a part of the festival in three simple steps, so start thinking about what you would like to perform now!

Here at Shults Ford of Wexford, we are excited for this Pittsburgh community event.

Is the Ford Mustang Hybrid Getting a V8?

The Ford Mustang is one of the most popular sports cars on the market. As 2020 draws nearer, the Ford Mustang Hybrid will soon make its way to our showroom and countless others across the country. Now, Ford has patented a new system that would fit suspiciously well as the Mustang Hybrid’s new engine.

Ford’s new patent

According to AutoGuide, Ford has patented a new powertrain system. The powertrain is a “twin motor drive system for [a] hybrid vehicle.” In other words, it’s a V8 engine designed to power a hybrid car.

The patent itself doesn’t mention the Ford Mustang Hybrid — or the highly anticipated Ford F-150 Hybrid. However, the timing of this patent fits perfectly with the upcoming release of the Mustang Hybrid, so many are beginning to speculate about any possible connections.

The Mustang Hybrid’s release date

Unfortunately, we don’t have a lot of information about the Mustang Hybrid’s release just yet. Many estimate that the model will make it to the 2020 lineup, which would mean we’re right on the cusp of finding out more information. Until then, Ford has most of the details under wraps.

In the meantime, the 2019 Ford F-150 and 2019 Ford Mustang are available at Shults Ford Lincoln Wexford. Call us today to schedule your test drive.
