The Lincoln Lawyer Returns: Motor Company Tabs McConaughey as Spokesperson

Three years ago, Matthew McConaughey stepped into the role of “The Lincoln Lawyer,” a movie about a lawyer who works right out of the back of his Lincoln Town Car. That movie started a career renaissance for McConaughey (appropriately, if obviously, named the “McConaissance” by the internet)—a favor the brand is hoping McConaughey can return now. Lincoln has hired McConaughey to be a “storyteller” in a series of new ad campaigns across multiple formats, including both television and digital spots. He won’t be selling his character’s office, the Town Car, though. Lincoln has discontinued that vehicle, aiming to capture more of today’s youth market with new offerings like the MKC, a stylish compact crossover.

“Authenticity is a word that kept coming up in our initial meetings. It was clear from the start they appreciated me as an individual first and foremost, and I would be able to be myself in this collaboration,” McConaughey said. “Lincoln is an iconic, American brand and I like where they are heading with their transformation. I had the chance to drive the new MKC around Texas and I think they’re doing a good job.

Well, there you have it. The MKC—and Lincoln in general—has got one of Hollywood’s favorite actor’s approval. We guarantee it will have your approval too, so come see us here at Shults Ford Lincoln of Wexford today to test drive it yourself.

IIHS Honors Ford C-MAX Hybrid With Top Safety Pick Award

C-MAX HybridAfter going through one of the most challenging crash test gauntlets in the industry, the Ford C-MAX Hybrid has been named a Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) for the second year in a row. With this award, the compact hybrid illustrates that it is not impossible to find a car that has both great fuel economy and safety.

“Ford takes the safety of our customers very seriously,” said Steve Kenner, global director of Ford Automotive Safety Office. “We are proud C-MAX Hybrid has achieved a Top Safety Pick from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.”

The C-MAX Hybrid received this honor after receiving the IIHS’ highest possible rating of “good” in moderate overlap front, side, head restraint, and seating crash tests. With standard safety features that include MyKey, AdvanceTrac with Roll Stability Control, a multitude of both driver and passenger airbags, SOS Post Crash Alert, and a tire pressure monitoring system, it’s easy to see why this hybrid is so safe. Add the available driver-assist features, which include a rearview camera and active park assist, and the C-MAX Hybrid is a force to be reckoned with.

Ford Plug-In Vehicles Will Communicate Via the Cloud

Ford Plug-In Vehicles Will Communicate Via the CloudFord is collaborating with seven automakers, including BMW, Chrysler, General Motors, Honda, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi, and Toyota, as well as 15 U.S. utility companies to develop technology that would enable plug-in electric vehicles to “talk” to charging utilities via the cloud.

The benefit of the technology is to help manage and improve the efficiency of the power grid. The collaborating automakers and companies will create a standards-based communication platform for use by plug-in electric vehicles and the electric grids. It will enable utilities to contact vehicles customers who have opted-in to the program to request their car to stop charging temporarily to alleviate stress on the grid.

The utility companies are prepared to offer financial incentives to participating owners. Those who opt-in to the program will be able to charge their car at any location of their choice and, if desired, ignore the request to stop charging.

“This innovative platform provides a critical enabler for the next step in vehicle electrification,” said Mike Tinskey, associate global director, Electrification Infrastructure for Ford. “It’s a way for plug-in electric vehicle drivers to be financially rewarded for their willingness to help manage the electric grid.”
